Feedback of Mebel 2017 participants and visitors

Viktor Yevtukhov, State Secretary, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation

- Participation in this large international exhibition of more than 600 Russian companies testifies to the fact that our manufacturers, despite some economic recession, could not only stand but also develop their production, their competences and make furniture which is popular not only with domestic consumers but also on overseas markets. Our manufacturers of furniture can compete in both high end and low end segments. It’s great that different communication platforms will work independently. They are devoted to design and such an important and popular area as the WorldSkills competition which develops trade and engineering professions. The trade show is accompanied by a large number of round table discussions. Each participant and visitor will find an interesting communication platform. I am sure a record number of contracts and deals will be profitable for both manufacturers and consumers.

Sergey Katyrin, President, Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry

- The exhibition area has increased by 10,000 sq m. There are some trade shows whose area is less than 10,000 sq m and here is a growth during the past year. I believe it happened, first of all, at the expense of Russian participants. It is one of the most beautiful trade shows which run at Expocentre. The Mebel exhibition is very promising. Our country witnesses the construction of housing program. The mortgage interest rate is going to slow down. Building of new housing is connected with the necessity to buy furniture. That's why Mebel will grow along with the market. It will be attractive not only for Russian but also for foreign manufacturers since no one wants to leave a huge market such as the Russian one. Newcomers will participate as well.

Alexander Shestakov, President, Association of Furniture and Woodworking Enterprises of Russia

- This year the Association celebrates its 20th anniversary. The members of the Association make the lion's share of large furniture manufacturers in Russia and today they are presented at the trade show. Traditionally, the Mebel exhibition is a key final event of the year in the business strategy of the companies. We sum up the results and hold a competition for the Russian Cabriole National Award for the best furniture item made in Russia. We also hold all strategic events connected with further development of the industry, discuss all key issues and challenges which have been identified over time.

Group stand of the Udmurt Republic
Yulia Badash, Head of Business Support Centre of the Udmurt Republic

- Head of the Udmurt Republic Alexander Brechalov gave an idea to take part in the trade show. The government officials and businessmen supported the idea. As a result, we have a group stand featuring eight companies manufacturing furniture. The Udmurt government recovered two-thirds of expenses. Joint participation in the trade show encourages cooperation between companies. We promote brand "Made in Udmurtia". Both individual customers and wholesalers have attended our stand today. We're satisfied with everything. The main thing for us is to make our companies satisfied and, as a result, to have further contracts, agreement, and partnership relations.

Group stand of the Ulyanovsk region
Veronika Chekmeneva, Area Manager, Dom Mechty (Dream House)

- We manufacture cabinet furniture and came to Mebel 2017 with great pleasure with other three companies which make upholstered furniture. The trade show is very interesting. We would like to showcase our products, establish contacts, and meet new people. We've brought baby cots with lifting mechanisms, radius cabinets, dinette sets, coffee tables and sofas. The visitors show their interest, they like Ulyanovsk furniture. We are ready to export it. Visitors from different cities and regions have already attended our stand, e.g., Grozny, Kazakhstan and the Moscow region. The level of Mebel is much higher than the level of European trade shows. We took part in them and can compare. Here is a huge territory and a great choice. We'll definitely come next year and bring new products.

Group stand of the Mari El Republic
Valentina Repina, Head of Marketing Communication Department, Republic Research and Consulting Centre

- It's not the first time that the Mari El Republic has participated in the trade show. We like to be presented at the trade show of such a high level. Our companies get return on investments. They participated under the Mari El Republic brand. It particularly facilitates the solution of organizational and financial issues. The stand features three large companies from Volzhsk which has traditionally been a furniture city with many furniture factories. I'd like our exposition to be larger and more Mari El companies to participate in it. I think we'll do it next time.

Group stand of the Krasnodar region
Yevgeny Bogush, Director, Fabrika Stuliev (Factory of Chairs)

- Our goal is market expansion. The Department of the Krasnodar Area gave us preferences to participate in the trade show. We've brought a few new products: upholstered chairs made of solid oak for dining rooms. They are of our own production. Value for money is very important to compete in the market. We also try to bring our ideas to design. The organization of the trade show meets the world's standards. It's prestigious to exhibit here. We've already thought of participation in Mebel 2018.

Group stand of the Kostroma region
Oleg Shustov, Manufacturing Director, Eclat

- We've come to the decision to participate in the trade show long ago. Our group represents the Kostroma region here. We've brought furniture fronts. Another area is hand finished mirrors. Facades made of solid wood generate the greatest interest among visitors. Our stand is very convenient. It allows showcasing the largest number of furniture samples. We are here for the first time. We like everything. We're willing to participate in the trade show in the future.

Group stand of the Kirov region
Anton Shuklin, Head of Sales Department, Alenden Factory of Upholstered Furniture

- Alenden makes its debut at the trade show. Our participation was funded by the government of the Kirov region. Here we could showcase our top models; we signed new agreements and contracts. Everything was very good. Our goals were to search for new partners, increase sales, and get export access. We've signed a contract for export of our furniture to Kazakhstan. Armenia is interested in our products, we'll hold negotiations. Our stand is attended by both representatives of the stores engaged in retail in regions and by individual customers. As demonstrated by Mebel 2017, there's a great demand for our products. We liked how the trade show was organized.

South Korea pavilion
Lee Hyun Joo, Area Manager, Gyeonggi Province

- We made a decision to participate in this trade show because the Russian furniture market is growing. Our group stand consists of eight companies. First of all they are manufacturers of office chairs and upholstery. We offer buyers our products at a very good price. Our stand was attended by representatives of Belarus as well as companies which have showrooms to demonstrate furniture. We knew that it's cold in Russia. But there's a very warm atmosphere at the trade show on the contrary. All our participants are satisfied. Your exhibition team helped us much with arrangement of our exposition and installation of the stand which is located in a place with a good traffic. We plan to invite more companies to the next trade show.

Nataliya Zvezdina, Marketing Expert, Lorena Kuhni

- For the fifth year we have participated in this wonderful exhibition. This year we've presented layout options: a kitchen for a country house, a kitchen for a studio apartment, and a kitchen for a standard apartment. It's a great pleasure to work at the trade show since all our ideas which we would like to implement with our designers at the stand, always gain support. We're allowed to create. The trade show for us is an opportunity to get feedback with our customers, partners and colleagues on the furniture market. Today we showcase our achievements, what we managed to do for a year and what we would like to do next year.

Alexander Ushakov, Sales and Marketing Director, Swiss Krono OOO

- The Mebel exhibition is a long standing event. We take part in it nearly every year since the moment our factory was founded in 2004. Last year we had a short break and didn't participate in the trade show. But I think that we’ll always participate in the future. Today, it is the only platform in Russia where everybody can meet and discuss the issues accumulated for a year during the week. It is a wonderful platform to make plans for the next year. Our visitors are our regular and potential partners i.e. everybody who is engaged in the furniture industry in Russia and neighbouring countries. These are big and small furniture factories. At the trade show we also meet those who want to offer us something e.g., manufacturers of paper, resin, advertising materials, etc. The flow of our foreign partners and colleagues continues, they attend the trade show with pleasure.

- We take part in the Mebel exhibition every year. It is a strategic event for us. We plan our participation in the show, our goals and tasks at the beginning of the year. This year we made a decision to participate with two booths to stand out our kitchens. We have a record number of visitors. We've collected more than 500 questionnaires. That never really happened. We've met new partners and companies which we hadn't seen before.

- Our company is more than 25 years. We manufacture kitchens of solid wood in Belarus. We attend this wonderful trade show for the first time. We search for new partners which would promote our products on the Russian market. For two days we've had talks with more than 50 potential dealers and made preliminary contracts. We hope that this figure will triple during the remaining days of the exhibition.”
